Youth Leadership Training

Purpose: To develop the leadership capacity of key youth members of the YCW site.

Length: One or two days

Target Audience: High School Age Youth (may be suitable for some middle schoolers)

Curriculum Components:

  • Assessing their personal leadership style
  • Identifying the elements of good planning
  • Learning to utilize basic communication skills for leadership
  • Gaining techniques concerning how to relate to adults in adult-led institutions
  • A basic understanding of the value and dynamics of prevention and how it works.

What do the Participants Take Home With Them?

Since this is a customized training, the benefits will change according to the components presented.

  • A better understanding of their own personal leadership style and how it will influence their YCW.
  • Techniques to aid them in being more effective leaders of their YCW.
  • Handouts to assist them in their management of their YCW activities.

Participant Assessment

At the first-ever leadership training, 29 out of 31 said they would "absolutely recommend" this training to others.
