April 2003: JCC recognized with a Casey Award as Youth Crime Watch International Program of the Year 2002-2003
The growth of JCC throughout the entire country of Brazil is extraordinary. From its initial beginnings in Barau, Sao Paulo State, in 1999 to its current development in not only Sao Paulo but in the North and Northeast states and the South and Southwest states, extending into the country of Uruguay, JCC has seen prolific growth.
JCC's young participants and dedicated adult leaders have produced a number of innovative strategies and high-quality technological tools. The program has grown to such proportions that it now boosts a national president and two regional presidents with accompanying support and with hundreds of thousands of students involved.
Much of the success is due in large part to the efforts of Colonel Cid, National President along with the National Program's Executive Director, Lt. Colonel Otavio and the ongoing efforts of Captain Jorge Miguel. A training of 101 officers in the summer of 2002 led to further expansion in Sao Paulo and the program's entry into Rio Grande do Sul, where Colonel Claudio Afonso Goncalves and Colonel Marcos Rogerio Riverio have led the way. Major Adalberto Carvalho de Souza has also begun a major JCC initiative in the Northeast.
No other program can grow with the energy and vitality of JCC!
