October 28, 2008: YCWN joins forces with MTN for a statewide youth rally
The first GSM Country carrier, the MTN joined the Youth Crime Watch of Nigeria and young people in schools and communities in Ibadan City to stage a rally tagged, STOP CRIME – TAKE THE LEAD. The rally organized to stop, prevent and reduce the increasing rate of drug abuse, rape, crime and corruption among young people and leaders in Nigeria. Youth Crime Watch members and students visited schools, markets and government agencies to advocate and re-orient market women and adult-leaders to stop crime in the land. The MTN Nigeria, CHI AJANLA FARMS and other government agencies supported the youth rally.













October 2008: YCWN visits the Commissioner of Police
The YCWN Executives and Advisor pay an advocacy visit to the Commisioner of Police, Oyo State in his office, Oyo State Police Headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan. The visit is part of our activities towards the launching of the Youth Crime Watch of Nigeria. The Commissioner of Police through his Deputy, DCP Ibeazor Raphael granted all our requests and gave out all the command's numbers to the youth-led executive.

August 25, 2008: Integrity Rally
The YCW Nigeria participated in the Integrity Rally organized by the Independent Corrupt Practises and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and Splash FM Radio with the support of National Anti-Corruption Coalition held in Ibadan City.

July 2008: YCW Nigeria helps train Benin program
The leadership of Youth Crime Watch of Nigeria met with the new leadership of YCW Benin. Nigeria's National Coordinator, 'Gbenga Adeleye, met with the group for a three day YCW training and orientation in Cotonou. The participants discussed Youth Crime Watch basics and philosophy. YCWA salutes Mr. Adeleye for his efforts in supporting the creation of the group in Benin.

June 2008: Website launches!
Youth Crime Watch of Nigeria now has its own website. The site is still under construction, but promises to be very useful in the future.

June 2008: YCWN enters troubled Niger-Delta region
YCWN has expanded into the troubled Niger-Delta region of Nigeria. The newly formed Delta-State Chapter, South-SouthRegion of YCWN has its base locally under the leadership of Jeffrey Michael.

The chapter's first task was to monitor local government elections. It monitored the election in Ika North East local, Area headquarters Owa Oyibu, Delta State. The chapter's major goal is to reduce crime, militancy, kidnapping and violence.
Jan 2008: YCW Nigeria in the fight against corruption
Youth Crime Watch of Nigeria has been selected as a member of the National Anti-Corruption Coalition (NACC), a coalition of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
