Thanks to all of you who made the conference a great event!

The conference in the news:

  • March 21 / The Standard-Examiner - Conference aims to prevent crime (news story)
  • March 21 / The Standard-Examiner - Teens attend national Crime Prevention Conference in Ogden (audio)

Youth Crime Watch of America (YCWA) presents this powerful youth conference, where youth and their adult allies can find inspiration, valuable skills, prevention knowledge, and national resources in the fight against crime, violence, and drugs. Challenging and motivating youth to make their communities and schools safer places is one of the most effective strategies to reduce delinquency and youth victimization. The National Youth Crime Prevention Conference is a vehicle that recognizes the valuable contributions youth can make to the crime prevention effort.

The Vision

Youth and adult participants will focus on youth crime, violence, and drugs; develop skills to facilitate safer schools and communities; and return to their communities and schools with solid action plans. Youth participants will lead the nation as effective problem solvers as they address some of the most critical health and safety issues faced by youth today.

The Mission

The conference’s mission is to engage all young people as stakeholders in crime prevention and to build a positive bond between youth, adults, and community through educational experiences in safety and health, training on crime prevention strategies, exposure to relevant and effective programs and practices, and exciting and enriching networking opportunities.

The Goals

Elevate!

The conference will provide a supportive arena in which youth can share with policymakers and community leaders their opinions, strategies for prevention, and solutions to the problems of crime, violence, and drugs.

Educate!

The conference will increase access for youth and their adult allies to crime prevention education by providing resources that can be shared with their communities.

Inspire!

The conference will provide interactive and exciting educational experiences for youth and adults.

The Conference Experience

Today, more than ever, there are no limits to what youth can achieve, especially when they are equipped with the right tools, the right plan, the right support, and the right attitude. Designed for youth ages 12–22 and the adults who work with them, this four-day event will challenge all participants to mobilize, to learn, to experience, to speak, and to act.

Participants will renew, rethink, and reenergize their dedication to crime prevention in their schools and communities by attending interactive workshops and off-site educational field trips. Through roundtable discussions during the Youth Exploring Solutions (Y.E.S.) Forum, conference youth will voice their recommendations for policymakers on reducing crime, violence, and drugs. Conference Ambassadors, young people 14 to 22 selected to serve as youth leaders during the conference, play a vital role at the conference. They help to focus and articulate the ideas of hundreds of youth participants. Adult participants can attend Professional Development Seminars. All participants will have networking opportunities to build friendships and partnerships at sunrise exercises, breakfasts, luncheons, and receptions.
